$10,000 To Win Wenatchee 200 Coming in May 2020
$10,000 To Win Wenatchee 200 Will Celebrate Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval 50th Season In 2020
Officials with Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval are excited to announce the return of the Wenatchee 200 on Saturday May 23, 2020 for Super Late Models at the fastest quarter mile on the west coast. The one-day race will pay $10,000 to winner with bonus money also up for grabs. The 2020 Season will be the 50th year of racing at Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval in Wenatchee, WA.
“Next season is a big year for us and we wanted a major event to help celebrate the season long celebration. We’ve seen some of the best in the country battle it out at WVSO over the years and this event is already grabbing attention of some of the top drivers on the West Coast,” said WVSO General Manager Jeremy Anders.
WVSO is the home track of short track racing legend Garrett Evans, one of the tracks owners. Evans will celebrate his 50th year of racing next season, when he turns 64 years old, the same number as his car. The Seven-time touring Late Model Champion has captured over 375 feature wins across North America including his most recent win at WVSO’s Neal Newberry 125 in September.
Even though he’s traveled the country and raced at over 100 different race tracks, WVSO is always special to him.
“I’ve traveled all over the country to race but being able to race in the town that I grew up in, at the track I watched my hero’s like Neal Newberry, Myron Entzel, Don Dowdy and so many more race at is always special. This race might be one of my last big races at the track and to be able to celebrate 50 years of the track with this race will be big. I think you will see some pretty big names come to the track for the first time,” said Evans.
The race will be a Saturday race day with practice, qualifying, heats and feature all on one day. There will be a 3 hour Friday night practice session available. Dick’s Heating and Air Conditioning Thunder Cars and Plumb Perfect Roadrunners will also be in action with increased payouts.
There will also be Bonus Money up for grabs for the 200 Lap feature that will be announced in the coming months and an increased payout throughout the field.
“We want this to be a big event, we’re trying to cut the cost of the drivers by making it one day show. Our marketing partners have been amazing to support this race already and we’re talking to more in the coming months. We’re hoping to increase the payout throughout field. We will doing a BBQ on Friday for all the teams,” said Anders
The Wenatchee 200 will be one of three Super Late Model races in 2020 at the historic track with Leonard Evans 150 on April 25th and Neal Newberry 125 on September 26th.
The track celebrated the 20th year under the Evans family ownership this past season. The Evans family took over in 1999 with a large renovation of the facility including repaving the track and making it the fastest along with one of the nicest quarter mile short tracks in North America.
The announcement of this race is just one of many that will be made over the next month in anticipation of the 50th Season Celebration. For more information on the Wenatchee 200 or Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval visit wvso.com
